Incentives
Some people are surprised to learn that green buildings offer superior long-term financial performance over non-green buildings. Initial cost premiums have been reduced as green strategies have become integrated into normal building processes. Significant cost savings occurs over the life of a green building from more efficient use of resources and from healthier more productive occupants. To further encourage green investment, the City offers additional incentives which can help green building projects and green businesses
The Standard of Sustainable Excellence establishes an incentive program for projects that register with the USGBC’s LEED® program, contract with a LEED® AP, and can demonstrate how the project will achieve LEED® certification at a Silver or higher level.
